Sri Sankara Vidyashramam takes immense pride in modelling itself on this paradigm of importing the type of education that not only gives the pupils power through knowledge but also fullness and introspective vision through love and spiritual orientation- A process by which character is formed, strength of mind is increased and the intellect is expanded to a great extent.

Sri Sankara Vidyashramam was established in June 1989 by the Indian Education Trust. The School was founded by His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Sankaracharya Swamigal of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam. His excellency Sri R. Venkataraman, former President of India, is a patron of the school. From a humble beginning, we have come a long way since inception growing both in stature and status. As Shri. R. Venkataraman put it, “Our School now has a magnificent campus, beautiful buildings and open space for the children to play and build up their future”.

Curriculum

The School has classes from LKG to Std XII. The School follows the Matriculation Pattern of Tamilnadu.

The School was upgraded into a Higher Secondary School in June 1992. The present pupil strength of our School is around 2000

The Ashvattha Bolck (Main building) was inaugurated on 4th Jan, 1992 by His Excellency Shri R. Venkataraman, former President of India. The Primary Block came up in 1997 while the K.S. Narayanan block was inaugurated on 14th July, 2000. We have a mini auditorium that can accommodate 200 students and is the venue for important functions & programmes.

The science laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Biology & Biochemistry are well equipped.

The English Language Lab caters to children from Std III to std IX. It aims at improving the Aural Oral skills of the children through specialized techniques.

Our School has a well equipped computer centre. Our school offers set packages of Computer Education & Training for Std I to IX. This is an integral part of our school curriculum as life oriented education.

Our academic achievements include excellent results in std X Matriculation Examination and Std XII Higher Secondary Examination every year. We have secured state ranks in English, Economics and Hindi. The number of students securing centums in different subjects is also rising steadily.

As far as our co-curricular activities are concerned, the school has a number of clubs for the students at the Primary, Middle, High School and Higher Secondary levels. A plethora of activities like Guest lectures, Quiz competitions, Field Trips etc are organized exposing the students to a wide variety of experiences.

Inter-house cultural and Talent shows are organized to provide a platform to the talented students be it singing, dancing or playing musical instruments.

Sri Sankara Vidyashramam draws its strength from its band of dedicated teachers, who assiduously yoke out all energies in the direction of academic excellence coupled with human developments. They play a pivotal role in moulding and shaping children and helping them develop right attitudes towards life.
